Mr. S. Jones

Some of my favourite experiences have been related to travel. I'd recommend it to any person. It's best to get your education under your belt and then get out there and see the world.

You get to see and meet different people, different cultures, different environments, and different ways of living. You also get to meet other travellers. You kind of just run into the same circles of people and I feel like it's a way of seeing the free spirit in travellers as you are free from the responsibilities that we have in our day-to-day lives.

While travelling has provided me with some of my fondest life memories, I knew it probably wasn't a good idea to travel for the rest of my life and that I would eventually put down roots. Everything in life is about balance. And, you know, whilst I speak about traveling with such happiness, and positivity, I also kind of craved routine in my life.

Something unique about St. George's is the sense of community. Teaching is a profession that requires your heart and soul and it's also a profession that you take home with you. I don't just mean marking (because we definitely do take that stuff home) but we also carry the relationships we have in school, so being part of a positive and supportive environment like St. George's definitely impacts my quality of life outside of school.

One thing I've learned while teaching around the world is that students are pretty much the same, no matter where you go. The cultural differences between Dubai and Australia are huge, but once you're in the classroom, they kind of get up to the same mischievous things and you know, they laugh at the same silly stuff and they're driven because they all want to do well in life. What an experience it has been teaching so many legends around the world.
