Mr. Andersen

I’m the Director of Admissions here at St. George's, and I'm relatively new here as I joined in just September of this year. I’m actually leaving on a trip tomorrow—it's a St. George's student recruitment trip. Part of the work we do here at admissions is recruitment, and I'm pretty excited about this chance for me to go to Nigeria and Kenya. I've been to both countries several times, and I know for some folks, that might seem a little wild and really far away to go. But I've had the great fortune to be able to travel to Lagos, which is in Nigeria, and Nairobi, which is in Kenya, several times. So I'm not too stressed or worried about that aspect of it.

But I am excited about St. George's. This will be my first time travelling to those places on behalf of St. George's, and the goal will be to see how all-boys schools and independent boarding schools here in Canada are received in Kenya and Nigeria.

Before coming to Saints, I was at UBC in admissions for nearly 20 years, and during that time, I was responsible for international recruitment and admissions. As part of my work at UBC, I travelled regularly to close to 40 different countries, talking to families about the ability to come to Canada and study at a post-secondary institution on the West Coast of Canada. That was a great treat for many, many years of my life.
